There are just days left to join the energy switching scheme that aims to cut household bills, before the offers are announced.

Householders have until Monday 8th September to register to take part in the collective switch. The exclusive winning tariffs will then be announced. Those who register will receive information about the winning tariffs as well as other tariffs on the market, and they will be able to see how much they could save by switching. The winning tariffs are only available to those who register, so join them today to find out how much you could save.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme is organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities. It aims to reduce people’s energy bills by using collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers.

The last Merseyside Collective Switch took place in March, and saved residents an average of £212 a year on their energy bills.  The highest saving was £933.

Anyone can join the collective switch, regardless of current supplier or payment methods. The scheme aims to make it safer and easier to switch supplier, and advisors are on hand to offer free and impartial help every step of the way. It’s free to join and there is no obligation to switch.

Merseyside’s Collective Switch is back!

Following the success of the last Merseyside Collective Switch, which saved residents an average of £212 a year on their energy bills, another switching round has been launched for Merseyside.

Over 4,200 people took part in the last round which saved residents a total of £205,000 on their energy bills. The highest saving was £933, and a significant number of people were able to save over £500 a year.

Mr Joseph Marnell from Knowsley took part in the collective switch and saved £660 a year on his energy bills. He said: “I found it really quick and easy to switch my tariff through the Merseyside Collective Switch. I was provided with clear information and support every step of the way and I am delighted to be saving so much on my energy bills”.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme is organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities.

It aims to reduce people’s energy bills by using collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers. British Gas, Npower and Scottish Power offered special deals in the last switch including the cheapest fixed tariff from British Gas.

Participants are welcome to switch to any tariff on the market to find the deal that’s right for them. The scheme aims to make it safer and easier to switch supplier, and advisors are on hand to offer free and impartial help every step of the way.

Ellie Abernethy, Project Manager of the scheme at Energy Projects Plus said “We have demonstrated that collective switching works for Merseyside and is an effective and easy way for people to reduce their energy bills. This is a good time to think about switching so you can make sure you’re on a lower tariff before the winter bills come in. It’s quick and easy to register, we’ll let you know how much you could save before you switch and there’s no obligation. There’s nothing to lose, and there could be a lot to gain.”

Householders are invited to register their interest in the collective switch in order to receive information about the negotiated tariffs. The registration period runs from 28th July to 8th September 2014. It’s free to join and householders will be able to see how much they would save before they decide if they want to switch suppliers. There is no obligation to switch.

Merseyside Collective Switch saves householders £205,000

Over 4,200 people took part in the Merseyside Collective Switch which has saved local residents a total of £205,000 on their energy bills.

Those who switched saved an average of £212 a year on their energy bills. The highest saving was £933, and a significant number of people were able to save over £500 a year.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme was organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities. It worked by inviting people to register their interest in the scheme, then using collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers.

Special tariffs were offered by British Gas, Npower and Scottish Power, and included the cheapest fixed British Gas tariff which protects against any price rises until June 2015. These tariffs were only available through the scheme for a limited time. Householders were also able to switch to other existing tariffs through the scheme.

Ellie Abernethy, Project Manager at Energy Projects Plus said, “We are really pleased with the results of the collective switch. It’s great that so many people took part and are making such significant savings at a time when household budgets are under increasing pressure. The £205,000 total savings is money put back into the local economy, so it’s a good thing for Merseyside too”.

Energy Projects Plus and the six partnering local authorities will be running another Collective Switch later in the year.

The Merseyside scheme joined other collective switches across the country in pooling registrations before approaching suppliers. In total, 57,000 people registered nationally and this high response enabled scheme switching partner, energyhelpline, to negotiate exclusive deals for the group.

Only 2 weeks left to join the collective switch!

Merseyside householders have just two weeks left to join the energy switching scheme that aims to cut household bills.

Media WallOver 1,500 people have already joined the Merseyside Collective Switch. With only two weeks left, householders are    reminded to register to benefit from the collective switch offers.

The Switch Together, Save Together scheme is organised by local charity, Energy Projects Plus, together with the six Merseyside local authorities. It aims to reduce people’s energy bills by using collective buying power to negotiate cheaper tariffs from energy suppliers.

4,600 residents joined the first collective switch which took place in June and saved Merseyside residents a total of £76,435 on their energy bills.

This switch aims to be even bigger and better. By joining up with other collective schemes across the country, the partners hope to negotiate an exclusive cheap tariff.

Mr Colin Leonard from Runcorn took part in the last collective switch and saved £248 a year on his energy bills. He said; “It was easy to join, and I was really happy with how much I saved. I would recommend it to others.”

 Householders are invited to register their interest by 10th March 2014. By registering their details, householders will help give weight to the scheme by increasing its bulk buying power. It’s free to join and householders will be able to see how much they would save before they decide if they want to switch suppliers. There is no obligation to switch.

Those who have never switched their energy supplier or who haven’t switched in the last 12 months, are likely to benefit most. The scheme aims to make it safer and easier to switch supplier, and advisors are on hand to offer free and impartial help every step of the way.

The last collective switch resulted in offers from Scottish Power, Npower, The Co-operative Energy and Good Energy, with up to £50 cashback against their tariffs for those who joined the collective switch. Offers were available on a variable tariff; fixed tariffs, quarterly billing tariffs and for prepayment customers.

The Merseyside Collective Switch is backed by Halton Council, Knowsley Council, Liverpool City Council, Sefton Council, St Helens Council and Wirral Council.
